I'm interested in collective processes of making. I denote it as "living sculpture", where the boundaries of the individuel is blurred with the collective identity of the group. I often work with roleplay scenario mechanics, game mechanics and world building as a strategy for facilitating a group of people.

My practice sets out with writting as a way to produce material, wether that is writting a roleplay project, using automatic writting strategies or creating written text as a visuel object. I'm interested in the paradoxical and ambivilant ontology of meaning, and how that is affected by context in different spaces. The field of roleplay scenarious is a focus point, because the boundary between being a role within a scripted setting and a everyday setting is a grey area.

My work between social design and writting practice intersects as using writting and facilitating as an emancipatory vehicle of making. I’m interested in how social designs can facilitate agency, a sense of ownership and co-creation, and more common what agency is and how it comes about.

I have designed and conducted live role-playing scenarios at public festivals, designed performative roleplay scenarios for public space, and I have designed performative experiences for groups of people. My work is often a combination of a social design and a body of visuel work in connection to each other.

I am an interdisciplinary artist working with performance and sculpture in an expanded field. I see art as a collective process and focus on facilitating spaces for shared activities.

My projects often engage with a specific social, cultural, and political contexts. I often employ game based strategies for creating a social space, designed for a certain group or audience.

My work focuses on group processes, how the group blurs the boundaries of the individual and how the group itself is a socially living entity. I’m interested in empowering participants by giving them ownership and influence in the process because I perceive engagement and community as a threshold for social change.

I come from a spiritual community which took part in the wave of transpersonal practices of the 70s and 80s, such as breath therapy or action-oriented therapy, where one takes part in the outside world by exploring the cosmos of their inner world. I entitle the scope of my work from this upbringning, both as being a participant- and as a critical bystander to these fields of work.

I have designed and conducted live role-playing scenarios at public festivals, designed performative roleplay scenarios for public space, and I have designed performative experiences for groups of people. Additionally, I work as a teacher in sculpture and drawing.

Nilas Dumstrei is an artist, performer and teacher. The artist is engaged with living sculpture as a medium of work through designs, facilitation, participative-, collaborative-, performative-, modes of practice.

the artist curiously investigates the social ties of
constellations of people, trying to observe the invisible connections taking place.
The artists invites people into a framework and asks people to evolve an idea or concept. By asking people to assemble through a given set of procedures, the artist facilitates playful space/place making processes.

The artist research setting/mindset as a methodology for work - meaning that a layered pre-given narrative effects any ”coming together” and ”creating together” among people. The intention is to “open up” spaces for emerging agencies.

The artist has designed and hosted live roleplay scenarios for festivals, staged and hosted roleplays and performances within the public space, designed audiowalks for couples, teaches on artistic processes of making, holds workshops on relational processes and more.
